The roof’s first element arrived at the Polish National Stadium – latest photos from stadium

Preparations for the construction of the stadium’s roof are underway: the first of 72 huge elements has arrived from Italy.
On Thursday the first of 72 elements of the inner ring truss arrived from Italy, one of the main elements of the roof. The element is over 12.5 meters long and weighs 48 tons.
First attempts at laying out the concrete for the floor construction on level +1 have begun, over the main entrance to the stadium. Work on the foundations under the columns of the steel roof is being done under a heated tent.
48 out of 72 steel support pillars for the roof’s construction have also arrived. Each element weighs 3.5 tons. The steel construction’s assembly will begin in March.
After a period of extremely low temperatures, the weather conditions now allow for a wider scope of construction work, when compared with the prior week.
Stadium Construction is Underway
After a period of low temperatures work on the reinforced concrete constructions of Warsaw’s National Stadium is back in full throttle. Employment is up – currently 1030 people are working in two shifts.
Special attention is being paid to the foundations under the columns of the steel roof. A storage area is being prepared for the roof’s elements, which will be shipped in from Italy, near the training field of the old Decade Stadium.
Currently, two steel columns and an element of the inner ring truss are on their way to Poland. According to the supplier’s detailed supply schedule, the remaining main construction elements – the ring and the steel columns – will be shipped by April of this year.
The lowest floors of the stadium, -4 and -3, are being prepared for installation work – sanitary and mechanical.
