The official logo, visual identity and slogan for UEFA EURO 2012™ have been unveiled at a special event in Kyiv’s Mykhailivska Square with co-hosts Ukraine and Poland looking forward to ‘Creating History Together’.
Star guests
Polish Football Association President Grzegorz Lato, his Football Federation of Ukraine counterpart Grigoriy Surkis and UEFA President Michel Platini officially unwrapped the logo as the highlight of the launch proceedings. The ceremony was attended by the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, representatives from the eight host cities – Gdansk, Warsaw, Poznan, Wroclaw, Lviv, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kyiv – and numerous other dignitaries.
Visual identity
The purpose of the logo is to give UEFA EURO 2012™ a personality of its own, with the visual identity to be applied across a range of promotional applications from tickets to web banners. The objective is to help promote the tournament – one of the world’s biggest sporting events – by providing an easily recognisable identity with a flavour of the host nations. The logo takes its visual lead from ‘wycinanka’, the traditional art of paper cutting practised in rural areas of Poland and Ukraine, as a tribute to the fauna and flora of the region. (read more…)
Ukraine’s preparations to co-host the European Football Championship in 2012 have fallen badly behind schedule.
Uefa, Europe’s football governing body, has given the country until 30 November to show significant improvement, or face losing most of the matches to the co-hosts, Poland.
In the eastern city of Donetsk, people are riding high on a tide of football fever.
In May their team, Shakhtar, won the Uefa cup. Thousands came out onto the streets to celebrate and welcome the players home.
The crowd seemed oblivious to the brooding presence of a massive bronze Lenin watching over the proceedings – a reminder of Ukraine’s Soviet past.

I uploaded this video to Youtube as I consider this very important for our country. If we do not get ready for European Union and for Euro 2012, nobody will welcome us there. Look at this unnatural cruelty. Is this fair for the young girl.
I publish this under Proud to Be Ukrainian, but it should be Shame for Being Ukrainian under this context.
What is unique in our country. I think human relationships here are great. People are caring and hospitable. We have to pay much attention to preserving this spirit, or we are banned.
Look at this video and feel free to comment. I would be glad to hear your thoughts.
It is reported that Apple considers taking legal steps against Polish Football Association for alleged copyright infringment. Apple asserts that a presentation used by Polish – Ukraine Euro 2012 team at Cardiff to present the joint offer of these two countreis infringes a copyrighted iPod commercial. There is no doubt that the clips below are similar and the author of “football” one was inspired by iPod ad. As to the infringment .. please judge by yourself. In my opinion it’s just the inspiration, following the general idea , therefore it can’t be considered as copyright infringment.
Generally, Apple has many ‘copyright’ troubles with Poles recently – please read the story
of Tomasz Rychlicki who published at his blog the alternative set of iPhone icons.
