Athletics – GB make 400m relay final

Great Britain have boosted their chances of adding to their medal tally following the qualification of the men’s 4x400m relay team for Friday’s final.

The British foursome, who are 12/1 with bookmaker to claim gold, ran a season’s best time of 3:00.38 to finish second behind Trinidad & Tobago.
The quartet of Nigel Levine, Conrad Williams, Jack Green and Martyn Rooney will be hopeful of finishing in the medals after Jamaica failed to qualify.
However, the selectors face a headache following Green’s brilliant third leg of the race.
“I wanted a chance to run after my disappointment in the 400m hurdles,” said Green, who may have run himself into the team at the expense of Team GB captain and world champion Dai Greene.
“I had a lot to prove and I would like to think I deserve to be on this stage.”
