Boxing – Froch up for Ward showdown

Carl Froch is confident that he has what it takes to beat Andre Ward in their super-middleweight unification fight in Atlantic City on Saturday night.

The WBA and WBC belts will be on the line in a fight delayed from October, with Froch 12/5 with bookmaker to shock Ward on home soil.
Ward called for a delay after suffering a nasty cut during training, with Froch believing that the American will be unable to lead with his head, as he has seemed to do in some recent bouts.
“It might slow down his use of the head a bit because there is scar tissue above his eye that could potentially open back up,” Froch said.
“It possibly says something about his mindset that he postponed the fight, but not too much. He had a bad cut, he needed seven stitches so he felt he wasn’t going to be ready because he couldn’t spar in the build-up to the fight.”
