Cricket – Anderson rest right for Flower

The decision to rest paceman James Anderson for England’s final Test against the West Indies is the right one according to team director Andy Flower.

England, already 2-0 up and 5/2 with bookmaker to complete a whitewash, have taken no chances with Anderson due to a couple of niggles, giving their spearhead a rest with the clashes with South Africa later this summer being a major consideration.
Flower told reporters: “If it had been 1-1 going into this third Test, Jimmy would have played.
“He is not badly injured and he could play this Test if we wanted him to, but it’s 2-0 and we’ve won the series already.”
Steven Finn and Graham Onions are competing to step in for Anderson at Edgbaston on Thursday, although both may yet play if reports that Stuart Broad could also be rested turn out to be true.
Tim Bresnan will definitely be among England’s bowling options as he bids to extend his record to 14 wins out of 14 in Test matches for his country.
