Cricket – Changes afoot for Edgbaston

England are 1/3 with bookmaker to win the third Test against the West Indies after skipper Andrew Strauss hinted at resting players for next week’s clash at Edgbaston.

The hosts wrapped up victory in the three-match series with a nine-wicket win in the second Test at Trent Bridge, having already triumphed by five wickets in the first Test at Lord’s.
That position leaves England able to cast one eye forward to the Test series with South Africa later in the summer, with pacemen James Anderson and Stuart Broad the most likely to be given a break.
Strauss said: “We’ll speak to the seamers, see how they’re feeling and see how we’re looking for the rest of the summer.
“It’s always a balance to strike, because primarily you want to win every Test you play – that’s the starting point.”
If Anderson and Broad are handed a rest, Steven Finn and Graham Onions are standing by to deputise.
