Cycling – Hoy has sixth gold in his sights

Sir Chris Hoy has the chance to win the sixth gold medal of his career when he takes part in the keirin on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old Scot claimed his fifth gold in the team sprint with fellow cyclists Philip Hindes and Jason Kenny on Thursday and has every chance of winning the keirin as well, the event he won in Beijing four years ago.
“It’s just great to win here in the UK, in front of this crowd,” Hoy said after his success in the team sprint. “You cannot overstate what this means. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Hoy is 4/7 with bookmaker to win the keirin at the London Olympics while Maximilian Levy can be backed at 11/2.
In the team sprint, Britain beat Germany in the qualifying round before thrashing Japan in the semis. Team GB then set a new world record as they saw off France in the final.
