Football – Hernandez pens new Old Trafford deal

Mexico international striker Javier Hernandez has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Manchester United which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

Hernandez, who is 4/1 with bookmaker to open the scoring against Aldershot in Tuesday’s Carling Cup tie, moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2010 and has scored 16 times in 19 Premier League starts and 16 appearances from the bench.
Last season the 23-year-old, recently linked with a move to Real Madrid, scored 20 goals in all competitions as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side won the Premier League title and made the final of the Champions League.
The striker said after signing the deal: “Playing for Manchester United has been a dream come true for me. I never expected my first year to go so well and I’m delighted to commit my future to United.
“To win a title and appear in a Champions League final was fantastic. I’m looking forward to helping my team-mates as we bid to win more trophies for this great club.”
