Golf – Change of approach has G-Mac buzzing

Graeme McDowell hopes a more attacking approach will help him record an improved result at the Masters this year.

The Irishman is 4/9 with bookmaker to make the cut this week despite failing to make it to the weekend for the last two years in a row.
The 2010 US Open champion has previously chosen to play many practice rounds, but this year is favouring a more direct approach by taking part in competitive golf in the weeks leading up to the event.
McDowell told Golf Week: “Like I say, just coming in here a little bit more, competitively sharp, I’m not getting as worried about the golf course as I have in the past.”
The European Ryder Cup star is showing signs of getting back to his best, finishing runner-up at Bay Hill behind Tiger Woods two weeks ago.
However, he is well aware of the quality of the competition he faces this week, adding: “Everyone else around me has been playing fantastic. You’ve got 10, 15 guys in the top 20 of the world in form, playing well. That’s what makes this week so exciting.”
