Golf – McIlroy eyes Hong Kong glory

Rory McIlroy believes he is playing well enough to win this week’s Hong Kong Open despite the strong field.

He has an excellent record on the Fabling course, having finished runner-up twice and sixth in the last three years, and is happy with the way he’s playing going into the tournament, which he is 9/2 with bookmaker to win.
McIlroy said: “I’ve played very, very well this year. Climbing to number two in the world rankings feels like a big achievement for me, and it would be great to finish off the season well with a good result here.”
McIlroy faces competition in Hong Kong from defending champion Ian Poulter, who is 12/1 to win the tournament, former winners Padraig Harrington and Miguel Angel Jimenez, 2009 USPGA champion YE Yang and England’s Justin Rose.
