Rugby League – Briers to captain underdogs Wales

Iestyn Harris has named Lee Briers as the Wales captain for the upcoming Four Nations tournament.

The Warrington stand-off has represented Wales, 150/1 with bookmaker to win the tournament, since the 2000 World Cup and helped a team that is only ranked seventh in the world qualify for the Four Nations.
“He was our captain last year and was a strong leader. There was no reason whatsoever why he wasn’t going to retain his captaincy,” said Harris, who was recently named on new Wigan boss Shaun Wane’s coaching staff.
“He is a fantastic servant for Wales. He is our most experienced squad member, has become a great leader for our nation and has become a good role model for younger members of our squad. That’s what Lee is all about.”
Wales warm up for the Four Nations with a home clash against Ireland this Saturday but are not fancied to beat Australia, 2/5 to win the tournament, New Zealand or England.
