Rugby Union – Hansen excited by All Blacks challenge

Steve Hansen is delighted to be taking charge of New Zealand after being appointed as the world champions’ new head coach.

Hansen has agreed a two-year deal after serving as Graham Henry’s assistant during the World Cup and is relishing the opportunity to step up. However, he is well aware he faces a tough challenge as he attempts to emulate his predecessor’s success, with New Zealand 11/8 with bookmaker to successfully defend their title in 2015.
“In this sport it’s the greatest honour you can receive,” said the 52-year-old former Wales boss.
“It comes with a huge amount of responsibility and all I can say is that I’m passionate about rugby, passionate about New Zealand, passionate about the All Blacks jersey and its legacy, and I look forward to the next two years with this team and taking it forward and enhancing that legacy.”
