The main sports arena in Ukraine, which will host the finals of the Euro 2012 soccer tournament, now has a logo. Soccer fans could enter a contest to have their logo chosen to represent the tourney. The winner is designer and soccer fan Sergey Melnik, who lives in Dubai. The logo is supposed to represent the inside of the stadium. A new report from a Warsaw based anti-racism group documents the number of racist and discriminatory incidents in the host countries for the 2012 European Championships. The report called ‘Hateful’ has been produced by the ‘NEVER AGAIN’ Association in cooperation with Football Against Prejudices (Ukraine), as part of the FARE network Eastern European Monitoring Centre. It covers an 18 month period from September 2009 to March 2011, detailing 195 individual incidents involving football in Poland and Ukraine. Tickets for Euro 2012 matches in Ukraine and Poland playedfrom June 8 until July 1 will cost from 30 to 600 euros. “The purchasing power of local citizens was taken into account when setting prices, and the cheapest tickets will cost 50% less than at UEFA’s Euro 2008 [event] in Austria and Switzerland. As UEFA president Michel Platini warns Ukraine that time is running out to complete its Euro 2012 preparations, the co-hosts announced today the opening date for the much-delayed Lviv stadium.
