Not everyone liked the UEFA’s decision of leaving the organization of the European football championships in 2012 for Poland and Ukraine. The Germans had the most grudges, but this shouldn’t came as a surprise to anybody as it’s widely known that our western neighbors wanted to take over the event most. According to the daily “Die Welt”, UEFA president Michel Platini gave Poland and Ukraine “a yellow card and a warning” but he is endangered himself by “a red card” and the European Championships are endangered by a fiasco.

Experiences of other countries show, that the organization of the Championships, most of all, gives benefits for companies which take part in tourist traffic service, improves an image of given country, and also causes great development of infrastructure. According to preliminary approximations, about half a million foreign supporters should arrive in Poland during Euro 2012. Dynamic development of the hotel base will be necessary to accommodate all guests. Experts predict, that it should be improved by building new 30 000 hotel places. The President of Ukrainian Federation Soccer admitted that it’s probable that the majority of Euro 2012 matches including finals, would be played in Poland. The Prime Minister of Ukraine is a bigger optimist. Ukrainians have the biggest problems with the infrastructure, especially with old airports. JSK Architekci company has shown a visualization and a miniature of the National Stadium. Its elevation refers to the national colours and imitates the waving Polish flag. Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk declared a donation from the national budget – the one-third of the whole building cost – for those cities that organize football Euro Championship. Confederation of Polish Employers claims that it is a good step in a good direction. Poland alters stance on euro Breaking with its tradition of strongly advocating Poland’s adoption of the euro, Poland’s central bank under its new governor is to play a more neutral role. Slawomir Skrzypek, governor for just over six months, is creating an office to study the costs and advantages of joining the eurozone. Pol­and’s finance ministry says Poland will meet the Maastricht criteria for joining by 2009 and according to Mr Skrzypek the earliest possible date for Poland adopting the euro is 2012 or 2013.
