Stand-in left-back Leighton Baines believes that a new mentality in the England camp will help them as they bid to qualify for the 2014 World Cup finals.
The Everton ace is preparing to start against Moldova on Friday evening in the absence of the injured Ashley Cole, with England 3/10 with bookmaker to make a winning start in Chisinau.
Baines believes that Roy Hodgson is starting to make his mark on the squad, having taken over a matter of weeks before the Euro 2012 finals, where England were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Italy.
“There is a shift in mentality,” Baines said. “Roy has had a positive influence. He is an English manager, so it is a lot easier for him to get his points across to the players.
“Now he has more time with the squad, it has given him more chance to implement those ideas and hopefully you will see that out on the pitch.”
