Chelsea have agreed a transfer fee with Bolton Wanderers for England international defender Gary Cahill.
The Blues seem certain to snap up the 26-year-old former Aston Villa star in January for £7million.
“There’s been a fee agreed between the clubs and we’ve now given Gary’s representatives permission to speak to Chelsea,” said Bolton boss Owen Coyle ahead of the visit of Wolves to the Reebok Stadium on New Year’s Eve.
“That’s where we are with it. I’ve said to Gary that he has to be focused on giving everything for Bolton Wanderers, because he knows Bolton Wanderers have been terrific for him just as much as Gary has been for us.”
Bolton are 17/2 with bookmaker to beat Wolves 1-0 and are 12/5 to keep a clean sheet.
