Roberto Di Matteo hopes that Fernando Torres has refound his goalscoring touch at exactly the right time for Chelsea.
The Spanish striker netted twice in the 5-2 FA Cup sixth round win over Leicester City and is expected to start against Manchester City on Wednesday – a game Chelsea can be backed at 3/1 with bookmaker to win, with Torres 15/2 to open the scoring.
Di Matteo said after seeing his side book a Wembley FA Cup semi-final date: “I think the whole team, the club and supporters are happy (for Torres). Hopefully his confidence is going to be high.
“I didn’t mind when he wasn’t scoring, because as long as we win as a team that is what matters to me.”
Chelsea have been revitalised since they parted company with Andre Villas-Boas earlier this month and are now in the last eight of the Champions League and pushing for a top-four finish in the Premier League as well as reaching the FA Cup semi-finals.
