Winger Stewart Downing and midfield ace Steven Gerrard aim to give Fabio Capello a perfect send-off as England head coach next summer.
England, who are 10/1 with bookmaker to triumph at Euro 2012, hope to be crowned European champions for the first time, with Liverpool duo Downing and Gerrard eager to succeed at the end of Capello’s reign.
Gerrard commented: “I’ve enjoyed working with Fabio since he’s been here.
“They’ll be nothing better than to send him away with a smile on his face and have a successful tournament.”
Meanwhile, Downing is confident that the bid for glory in Poland and Ukraine will go better than the dismal World Cup 2010 campaign.
“There’s been a great improvement since the World Cup and we’ve got to take that on to the big stage at the Euros and perform,” Downing added.
