Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has played down fears that an ankle knock could see him miss the potentially crucial trip to Newcastle United at the weekend.
The Citizens, 4/9 with bookmaker to win the title, could be all but crowned champions by Sunday evening if they win on Tyneside and Manchester United slip up at home to Swansea City, and Hart is confident that he is ready for action.
Hart commented: “Everything is okay, I just caught my ankle (against United). But we have great medical staff at City so it will be dealt with.”
Hart has been an ever-present for the Citizens in the Premier League this season, playing in all 36 games to date and has kept 14 clean sheets as City close in on a first league title since the 1967/68 season.
Roberto Mancini’s men will hope to take all three points at Newcastle to set up a crunch final-day clash with relegation-threatened QPR at the Etihad Stadium.
