Soccer – Messi sets Barcelona landmark

Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi has become the leading goalscorer in the history of Barcelona at the tender age of 24.

Messi took his Barca tally to an incredible 234 goals with a hat-trick in a 5-3 La Liga win over Granada at the Camp Nou on Tuesday, moving him two clear of the previous mark set by Cesar Rodriguez.
The South American already has 12 Champions League goals to his name this season, with Barca 6/5 with bookmaker to retain their European crown.
Messi needs just one more goal to break the Champions League era record he jointly holds with former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, having already become the first man to score five times in a game earlier this season.
Barca head coach Pep Guardiola hailed Messi as one of the greats after another fabulous display against Granada, telling the club’s official website: “We are witnessing the best in every sense.
“I’m sorry for those that want to sit on his throne, but this lad is the best.”
