Soccer – Norwich step up new boss search

Norwich City’s search for a new manager continues after Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay insisted he is not interested in succeeding Paul Lambert in the Carrow Road hot-seat.

Former Colchester United manager Lambert has opted to leave the Canaries to take charge at Aston Villa and Mackay had been one of the favourites to succeed him.
Mackay, who played over 200 times for Norwich during a six-year spell at Carrow Road, said: “I have started a long-term project and want to stay and finish it.
“I am very flattered to be linked with the vacancy at Norwich City. They are and always will be a club close to my heart. However, I am fully committed to our football club and the challenges ahead.”
Birmingham City manager Chris Hughton is now 2/7 with bookmaker to be Norwich’s next manager while Steve Bruce is available at 10/1.
