EURO 2021

Soccer – Work to do for English duo

Both Manchester City and Manchester United have first-leg deficits to make up if they are to progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

City, who are 3/1 with bookmaker to win the competition, lost out 1-0 away to Sporting Lisbon, while United (10/1) were beaten 3-2 at Old Trafford by Athletic Bilbao.
Roberto Mancini is confident that the Citizens can turn their tie around back at the Etihad Stadium, saying: “We have another game and we have more chances to win the next game and I think we will progress in this competition.”
Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson was similarly upbeat for his side’s trip to Spain, with Wayne Rooney’s last-minute penalty having given United a realistic chance in the second leg.
He added: “We can still win the game, no question. We showed we can make chances against them, but obviously we have to defend better.”
City and United return to Premier League action on Sunday, with Mancini’s men away at Swansea City, while the Red Devils play host to West Brom.
