The main sports arena in Ukraine, which will host the finals of the Euro 2012 soccer tournament, now has a logo. Soccer fans could enter a contest to have their logo chosen to represent the tourney. The winner is designer and soccer fan Sergey Melnik, who lives in Dubai. The logo is supposed to represent the inside of the stadium. Zozulica is officially presented to public at Ukrinform news agency in Kyiv, Ukraine. Zozulica is a much talked project, which is nowadays competing to be named the Euro-2012 unofficial mascot. The competition results are to be announced by information centre Ukraine-2012 already this April. Zozulica is a revived clay bird-whistle, named and shaped after a cuckoo, which symbolizes rich historical heritage of Ukraine and its traditions rebirth. As UEFA president Michel Platini warns Ukraine that time is running out to complete its Euro 2012 preparations, the co-hosts announced today the opening date for the much-delayed Lviv stadium. Lviv city authorities confirmed it will open next August, reports BSANNA News. Two major football matches would be held in the 33,400-capacity venue before the Euro 2012 competition that is also being staged in Poland. Four Ukrainian cities – Kyiv, Donetsk, Lviv and Kharkiv – have been confirmed as the host cities for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship, with Kyiv being chosen to stage the final, a source in UEFA told Interfax-Ukraine. Poles are running ahead of schedule with their preparations. Poland is ahead of schedule in its preparations for the 2012 European Soccer Championship. The UEFA commission recently visited Poland and Ukraine to assess the situation and approved the progress made in the Polish cities of Warsaw, Poznan, Gdansk, and Wroclaw, which will host the soccer games.
