Tennis – Murray in shape for US Open

Andy Murray believes he is heading into the US Open in perfect shape, in contrast to injury concerns affecting a number of the world’s top players.

Murray, who is 9/2 with bookmaker to win the US Open, won the Cincinnati Masters after final opponent Novak Djokovic was forced to retire with a shoulder problem, while Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer both lost in the quarter-finals.
“The plan is to be feeling perfect going into the Grand Slams,” said the Scot. “That’s really been my goal this year and I’ve done a good job at it so far.”
However, the British number one is wary of thinking that his three main rivals will make it easy for him, adding: “Those guys (Djokovic, Nadal and Federer) could end up making the semis of the US Open, then you get to see if it’s a chance.
“If all of them lose early, obviously my chances would go up, but I’m sure come the start of the US Open on Monday, all of them will be fine.”
