Tennis – Djokovic to be more positive

Defending champion Novak Djokovic believes that he needs to be more positive and aggressive in his play to retain his title at the US Open.

Djokovic, 11/8 with bookmaker to win again at Flushing Meadows, opened his campaign with a 6-1 6-0 6-1 thrashing of Italy’s Paolo Lorenzi, before hinting that he will look to serve and volley more often than he has done recently.
He told reporters: “I feel my net game isn’t that bad and I should use the opportunity. I have many times a chance to come to the net and finish off the point earlier.
“I think that having that variety of coming to the net, chip and charging sometimes, serving and volleying – it’s important in today’s tennis.”
Next up for Djokovic is a second round clash with Brazilian Rogerio Dutra Silva, who won a five-set marathon against Teymuraz Gabashvili in round one.
