Roger Federer is 4/1 with bookmaker to win the Australian Open title in January after returning to form at the Swiss Indoors tournament in Basle.
The former world number one secured his first trophy in ten months by beating Japanese youngster Kei Nishikori 6-1 6-3.
It was Federer’s first final appearance since he was beaten at this year’s French Open by Rafael Nadal.
Nishikori had surprisingly beaten Novak Djokovic, who is 13/8 to retain the Australian Open title he won in Melbourne earlier this year, in the semi-finals but never looked like repeating that shock against Federer, who cruised to his 68th career title.
