Tennis – Murray ready to turn up the heat

Andy Murray concedes that how he copes with the heat could determine whether he wins his first-ever Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows.

Third seed Murray, who is 10/3 with bookmaker to win the US Open, was speaking after reaching round three following a straight sets win over Croatian Ivan Dodig. He will take on the winner of the all-Spanish contest between Pablo Andujar and Feliciano Lopez in the last 32.
Murray said after the 6-2 6-1 6-3 victory: “It was better than the first round, that’s for sure.
“I moved better than I did in the first match and served better – I was able to dictate more of the points because of that. I was much happier with the way I played.”
He added: “I’ve got a couple of days to work on some things and I’ve got to get used to playing in the day, so I’ll get out there in the heat.”
The British number one has a 6-0 career record over Lopez but has never played Andujar.
